National Labor Observatory Reviews the Labor Market During January
The National Labor Observatory (NLO) issued a detailed publication with statistics about the Saudi private sector labor market for the month of January 2024. The publication reviewed the total number of employees in the private sector until the end of the month, including Saudi citizens and residents, categorized by gender, as well as the net growth of Saudi citizens' jobs and the numbers of new entrants to the private sector in January.
According to the report, the total number of employees in the private sector reached a historic high of approximately 11,054,576 workers in January. Several growth factors contributed to achieving this record number, including initiatives from the human resources and social development system, increased job creation, the thriving private sector, as well as economic reforms and government support.
The report stated that the total number of Saudi citizens working in the private sector in January was 2,327,858, with 1,375,478 male citizens and 952,380 female citizens. In contrast, the total number of foreign residents working in the private sector was 8,726,718, including 8,386,925 male residents and 339,793 female residents.
The report also highlighted the net growth of Saudi citizens' jobs in January, with 32,447 citizens joining the private sector for the first time.
It's worth mentioning that the National Labor Observatory issues various reports and publications, including the "Overview of the Saudi Private Sector Labor Market," published monthly, to review the key statistics and numbers from the previous month. Established by royal decree in 2010, the National Labor Observatory serves as the primary and trusted source of labor market data.
